Beyond COP21 Sustainability Symposium

Beyond COP21 is a global initiative that brings together students, educators, and experts to advance climate solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With over 50 symposia conducted across 25 countries and 6 continents, the initiative reflects a growing global commitment towards sustainability and collective action.

The symposium brought into focus the importance of the SDGs as a shared framework for building a more equitable and sustainable future. Key themes included climate action, clean water and sanitation, responsible consumption, and the protection of life on land—reinforcing that sustainability extends beyond environmental responsibility to encompass the overall well-being of communities.

We were honoured to host a distinguished panel of speakers whose insights enriched the experience for our students and faculty:

  • Peter Milne – Founder & Director, Beyond COP21
  • Arun Sharma – Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Queensland University of Technology (QUT); Advisor to the Chairman, Adani Group & Head of Group Sustainability
  • Chetan Singh Solanki – Founder, Energy Swaraj Foundation, widely known as the “Solar Man of India”
  • Monish Ahuja – Managing Director, Punjab Renewable Energy Systems Pvt. Ltd. (PRESPL)

The day featured a series of interactive workshops, sustainability dialogues, and collaborative problem-solving sessions, providing students with opportunities to engage deeply with real-world challenges. The symposium fostered curiosity, critical thinking, and meaningful dialogue, empowering students to explore innovative solutions and understand their role in shaping a sustainable future.

More than an academic engagement, the symposium served as a powerful reminder that sustainability is a shared responsibility. It encouraged students to recognise that even small, consistent actions—such as conserving resources, reducing waste, and making mindful choices—can collectively create a lasting impact.

The Beyond COP21 Symposium at Adani International School stands as a significant step towards nurturing informed, responsible, and proactive global citizens.
