Greetings! My name is Rumia Sharma, a passionate IB PYP activator of learning. I am a positive person who has an enthusiastic outlook on life and believe in these words by Margaret Mead “Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.” Although I hail from the city of joy Kolkata but was brought up in Delhi and completed my schooling and college from there. I hold Bachelor’s degree in Economics (Honors) from Miranda House College, Delhi University and Bachelors of Education from Annamalai University. Further, I pursued and completed 120 hours in-class TESOL Course training from American TESOL Institute, Bangkok. I have earned a certified course – Making PYP Happen from IB school and also attended and mentored several PYP in-house workshops. I have been an IBPYP educator for more than 7 years, with my distinct teaching experience in Miras International School, Almaty, Kazakhstan as an IB PYP ESL teacher. I have been IB PYP homeroom teacher in Apeejay School International, New Delhi, Pathways School and GD Goenka World School, Gurgaon. Currently, I am proud to be associated with the esteemed institution, Adani International School, Ahmedabad. When I first started teaching, I could not ascertain the enormous impact an educator makes on the mind of a young child. But today, as a mother of a young daughter and being with my learners, this realization drives me to sculpt every young mind I come across with profound sensitivity. As an educator, I really treasure the idea that teaching is not just about delivering content but to tread on the path of learning along with the learners. I am a teaching professional who encourages academic excellence, initiates selfconfidence and independent thinking across the student population and is a team player who develops and maintains a strong rapport with students, parents and faculty. I will keep giving my best to create a more interactive classroom environment where each student can meet his/her full potential.
